A Virtual Library for Sociology in Europe...
Within this project we established the beginning of a Virtual library of Sociology in Europe by doing research about the process of choosing publications which represent the country and its research tradition from a sociological viewpoint, which enables us to understand the selection and research processes within particular countries and their sociological communities. Texts and research about Ireland, Turkey and Austria are yet available, the Virtual Library however is conceptualized as
...to be advanced!
We are now able to provide an Internet Tool with comparative functions about the history of Sociology in Europe and we want to be it a "living tool" in the sense that everybody interested with a sociological background can join us, can contribute to his/her country section, can be part of the broader literature and research platform which will evolve and kept updated in the next months and years. Do you have suggestions, interest in participating, comments, critique...? Then contact christian.fleck[at]uni-graz.at.
ANOVASOFIE started out as a research project funded by the European Commission. DG Research (contract no. CIT2-CT-2004-506035) from 2004-2006. The project's objectives were analysis of the reasons for the fragmentation in the European sociological research community and developing means to overcome the fragmentation of sociology in Europe. Subtopic two of ANOVASOFIE analyzed differences and similarities in the role performance of public intellectuals in different European countries and at different times in the 20th century.
